Mike Rose,
Treasurer
Mike was born and grew up in the Upland, Ontario area and moved to Banning in 1963 to teach history at Banning High School. In 1972 he was employed by Cal State San Bernardino as their Relations with Schools Officer but he remained in Banning and was elected to the School Board in 1972. Mt. San Jacinto College hired Mike as a counselor in 1983 where he has been happily ensconced ever since. Retiring from full time counseling in 2008, Mike got to continue part time as the College moved to establish a new campus in the Pass and can still be found there two days a week, ready to counsel. When not working, Mike serves on the Banning Chamber of Commerce Board and on the Board of the Banning Cultural Alliance. He is also an advocate for what the Alliance has come to call “the Man arts”, the objects and structures that result from hand making “practical” things like complex buildings, cabinets, and custom cars. “We are surrounded by art”, he is apt to say ,”you just need to look around and appreciate what others have done and can do.”
